SENIOR CONSULTANT

A senior consultant with SHAPE, he is a medical doctor and has a post graduate qualification in occupational medicine and health. Izak has been supporting health impact assessments and other health consultancies for SHAPE since 2016.

He is also a recognised authority in health impact assessment having lead over 40 assessments for various sectors in various countries. Izak fulfilled the role of community health manager for the Mozambique LNG project from 2012- early 2016 so has active experience in conducting assessments as well as implementing and monitoring interventions. This role entailed supporting the development of detailed contractor manager specifications.

Izak has supported large and complex projects including large scale mining, dams and pipelines. Izak’s easy going nature and excellent communication skills allows him to explain complex findings in a simple and practical manner. His extensive occupational health and travel medicine experience allows him to understand workplace health issues and support the management of hazards to avoid or prevent potential community health and safety impacts. Izak is also active in the International Association of Impact Assessment and has spoken at a number of conferences.
